Q: Does acupuncture hurt?
A: The needles are about twice the diameter of a human hair. Some people do not feel the needles others feel a moment of slight discomfort. The vast majority of patients find the benefits of acupuncture far out weigh the slight discomfort and they also find it very relaxing.
Q: What does the consultation involve?
A: The consultation is a confidential conversation between you and I. It starts with a general chat about why you have come for acupuncture. While we are chatting I will take notes to help me form a diagnosis.
Q: Do i need to get undressed for the physical examinatiion ? A: Not necessary. If you wish you can come in loose fitting clothes. I will however need full access to your back. This is where the first treatment is administered and can be likened to a detox treatment
Q:What does the physical examination part of the consultation involve? A: I will leave the room while you undress to your underwear get on to the treatment table and cover yourself with the blanket provided. Examinations include pulse taking, blood pressure readings, body temperature checks, palpation of the abdomen and I will also look at your tongue.
